10.00 AM to 5.00 PM. Continuous entertainment and activities at the Midsteeple and on the High Street, Dumfries, with ceremonies and displays from local dance groups, the Dumfries School of Dance, Ineke Thomson School of Dance and Clare Kerr School of Dance, compered by our entertainments team, Craig Bowron and Steven Connelly.
11.30am Charter and Crowning Ceremony of 2010 Queen of the South Elect, Abbey King, at the Midsteeple. See related page `The Charter Ceremony`.
13.00 - 15.15 `Homecoming Idol` Quarter and Semi Finals. 15.15 - 15.45 (approx) Electric Body & Soul Dance Troupe. 15.45 - 17.00 `Homecoming Idol` Live Final for £600 of prize money plus trophies.
Other street entertainment will take place around the town during the day, including Daffy Dill the clown, the ladies of the Guild of Players doing free face painting, Hat Trick and Friends` Circus Workshop plus a Stilt Walker.
15.00 Childrens Fancy Dress Parade in the Vennel. Please note that this event will not take place, due to a lack of organisers.
6.15 PM. The Big Parade, generously sponsored by Gates Power Transmission and Stagecoach West Scotland. A spectacle not to be missed !.
7.30 PM (approximately) Massed Bands `Beating Retreat` in Buccleuch Street. This will take place following the conclusion of the Big Parade and subject to delays and weather, the exact timing cannot be accurately predicted. A Grand Finale to a `Guid` week.
