Saturday 21st June. Guid Nychburris Day

7.40 AM to 12.00 Noon. Riding the Marches, Including `Stobbing and Nogging`. See separate page, `Riding the Marches on Guid Nychburris Day` for more information.

10.00 AM to 10.30 AM Start of the `Guid Nychburris Road Run` for preserved lorries, organised by the Dumfries Transport Group. These lorries, some of which are many decades old, will start from the Midsteeple at one minute intervals and will proceed along the High Street to Burns Statue and then down Buccleuch Street at the start of an eighty mile country route. This road run is a prelude to the popular Truck & Bus show, due to take place at Park Farm on Sunday June 22nd.

10.00 AM to 5.00 PM. Continuous entertainment and activities at the Midsteeple and on the High Street, Dumfries, with ceremonies and an array of local entertainers and musicians, compered by Craig Bowron and Steven Connelly. Here is the approximate schedule: 10.00am Highland Dancing. 11.00am Baton Twirlers. 11.00am Daffy Dill.

11.30am Charter and Crowning Ceremony of Queen of the South Elect, Abbey Kerr, at the Midsteeple. See related page `The Charter Ceremony`.

12.45pm Corberry Pipers. 1.00pm, Live West Sound Radio Roadshow sponsored by Parkdale Garage, Cargenbridge, (near Burtons). 1.00pm Corberry Pipers, (outside TJ Hughes). 1.00pm Main Stage: Electric Body & Soul, Inake Thomson Dancers and Jumpin` Jaks Dancers. 3.00pm Tai Chi Demonstration by Dr Yu (World Tai Chi Champion). 4.00pm  Go Live Band. 

Also, around the town during the day will be: Daffy Dill, `Dragonfly Dreaming` Puppet Shows and `Funny Faces` Face Painting for the kids.       

3.00 PM. Vennel Events Committees, Childrens Fancy Dress Parade. Three categories: Up to 5 years, 6 to 8 years and 9 to 12 years, with three prizes in each category. Prize vouchers totalling £180, to spent in Toytown, plus a gift for every entrant. All entrants must be accompanied by an adult. Collect your entry form from Toytown at 7 Church Place or Funtime, at 102 Friars Vennel. All entrants should assemble in the Vennell at 2.30 pm for judging at 3.00pm. Also, all entrants are invited walk either the full `Big Parade` course round Dumfries which starts at 6.15 pm (see below), or alternatively, the wee ones can join the `Big Parade` at the bottom of the Vennel, for the shorter last part of the parade which goes up the Whitesands, along Buccleuch Street and past Burns Statue.       

6.15 PM. The Big Parade, kindly sponsored by Gates Power Transmission and Stagecoach. A spectacle not to be missed !. 

7.30 PM (approximately) Massed Bands `Beating Retreat` in Buccleuch Street. This will take place following the conclusion of the Big Parade and subject to delays, the exact timing cannot be accurately predicted. A Grand Finale to a `Guid` week.
