Schools Hand Writing Competition


The popular hand writing competition is currently underway with children from ten local primary schools competing for the John McQueen Trophy for overall winner. Silver and bronze medals are also presented, as are winners' prizes for each primary age group. This year, all category winners will also receive a book token from the Guid Nychburris Committee.

This years ‘test piece' comes from the song ‘Queen of the South' Primary 1 and 2 pupils are invited to write the song title and draw their interpretation of ‘Queen of the South' , while Primary 3-7 pupils are asked to write the title and the last verse. Judging will take place on 3rd and 4th of June.  Winners' names will be announced in the local press and also displayed on the windows of The Stove High Street from Monday 10th June.
