Schools Hand Writing Competition

SCHOOL HAND WRITING COMPETITION

The popular hand writing competition is currently underway with children from local primary schools competing for the John McQueen Trophy for overall winner. Silver and bronze medals are also presented, as are winners’ prizes for each primary age group. This year, all category winners will also receive a book token from the Guid Nychburris Committee.

This years ‘test piece’ comes from the song ‘Guid Nychburris Day’ Riding the Marches written by George Shirley. Primary 1 and 2 pupils are invited to write the song title and draw their interpretation of ‘Guid Nychburris Day’ while Primary 3-7 pupils are asked to write the title and the last verse.
